PT SIER’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programs often face misalignment with the real needs of the Berbek Village community, necessitating the optimization of its ESG social pillar. This study aims to formulate a strategy to optimize PT SIER’s ESG social pillar based on field data. The research employs the Participatory Rural Appraisal (PRA) methodology, utilizing Arnstein’s (1969) ladder of citizen participation theory to position the community as active subjects. The results indicate that current CSR relations remain reactive and operate at the tokenism level, with significant gaps identified in economic empowerment, health, and education. Involving residents from the design stage is proven crucial for creating relevant programs. Therefore, this research asserts that participatory social mapping serves as a strategic instrument to shift the CSR paradigm from mere philanthropy to sustainable empowerment, while optimizing PT SIER’s ESG social pillar to be more targeted and effective.
